I work at a doctor's office where nearly every patient is on some sort of narcotic. These narcotics cause addictions and often patients come up with bizarre stories as to why they should get more medication. This was a message at work from one of our patients.
"People have been stealing her medication so she started hiding them. She hid them in the couch and for her birthday her husband took the couch to Goodwill and bought another one. All her meds are gone now. She went to Goodwill to get her meds back, but they had already sold the couch."
This is funny on several levels. One, it's ridiculous. Two, this is the same lady whose father has suspiciously died or nearly died several times, and who is unable to make her appointments due to his death (or near deaths). Also, she sometimes is unable to make her appointments because her dad can't give her a ride (he lives in Utah in at least a few of her stories?). Three, there was quite a bit of creativity involved, or, this is truly a sad/humorous story. When they finished laughing, the doctors decided to frame the note.
